What Makes For Good Maintenance Of Your Septic System

Posted on: August 19th, 2016 by admin

Maintenance is key when you have a septic system to take care of! Even though maintenance can be overlooked most of the time, it is the number one way to help prevent repairs. A well maintained septic system is a happy system and one that won’t require large repairs with hefty costs attached.
There are certain key components that are part of a good maintenance check up on septic systems. These steps are exactly what we at Septic Expert can do for you to make you won’t be surprised with a failing system one day. The list below includes the steps that need to happen to make sure your septic system to doing it’s job.

  • Perform a visual and odour examination for all the components of your system, not just one. We need to make sure that everything is working properly, not just one thing!
  • Removal and cleaning of effluent filter. This filter prevents solids from plugging up the drain field but they do need to be cleaned frequently to prevent backups happening in the home.
  • Cleaning or replacing air filters. Filters in the air compressors should be replaced at least once a year.
  • A test run should be performed on sewage pumps and floats as well as performing a load test on all pumps. This gives you the life expectancy of the pump and allows you to budget for a replacement when it’s needed. This way you can avoid expensive surprises!
  • Determine if tanks/components need pumping, this is your real money saver. If pumping is done too late it can risk damage to your drain field – which can be an extremely expensive mistake.
  • A visual inspection of your septic field is also crucial to check for ponding and any other trouble indicators.
  • Checking your alarm and panel function is also an important part of the maintenance process, this is where we find out if there has been any trouble since our last visit.

There can be a lot of steps to maintaining your septic system so it can be easy to get overwhelmed. That’s where Septic Expert comes in, get in touch with us and schedule some maintenance to help prevent any future surprise repairs!

What Makes A Good Septic Installer?

Posted on: August 8th, 2016 by admin

When it comes to septic installation you want to make sure that you find a good installer. One that has expert knowledge, can perform service and maintenance and can install even the most difficult of systems. This is where Septic expert excels, we pride ourselves at being the best in the Lower Mainland at what we do and we enjoy taking on those challenging installs.

A good septic installer will have great knowledge, not only of the installation but of how to keep your system running well. Their knowledge will also be something they love to share with prospective customers and returning customers. Our website has tons of information which can help customers to do some research before deciding what they would like to do, starting with things like how to find your septic system.

Another sign of a good septic installer is that they will not shy away from the more challenging installations. They will have the confidence and knowledge to create a septic system that will work even in the most difficult conditions. An example of this would be an installation Septic Expert completed for a customer who had recently purchased a lakefront home. Difficulty with this installation came from the extremely high water table, a drainage ditch that ran along the back of the property and the lake being only 100ft from the septic field itself. Even with all these obstacles Septic Expert was able to create and install a functioning septic system for this happy customer.

If an installer won’t stand by his installation that’s a sign that he doesn’t believe in his work. Service and maintenance are a key part to keeping your septic system working for years to come. Septic Expert believes that keeping up with servicing and maintenance will help to prevent you from having to pay for some nasty repair work. We will more than gladly come out to check your system and perform regular maintenance

A good septic installer is the difference between having a well functioning system and paying for repairs, so give Septic Expert a call and let’s see what we can do for you!

With your septic system it’s important to keep a good maintenance schedule. This can prevent your septic system from becoming sluggish and not functioning properly. Remember good maintenance can prevent you from having to deal with large costly repairs down the road.

Here are a couple of maintenance tasks that we perform and why they are important for your system!

  • Visual and odour examination. This is performed on all components of your system, you need to know that everything is working correctly. Not just one area.
  • Removal and cleaning of effluent filter.  There need to be cleaned regularly to prevent backups in your home.
  • Cleaning and replacing of air filters in lift station or compressors. Air compressor filters need to be replaced at least once a year.
  • Test sewage pumps, floats and perform a load test. This helps you to know the expectancy of your pump and allows you to budget for a replacement.
  • Determine whether tanks or other components need pumping. This is where you can save a lot of money as if you leave pumping too late you can risk damage to your drain field. Which can be an extremely expensive mistake.
  • Visual inspection of drain field or pressure bed.
  • Check alarm and panel function, this allows us to see if there has been any trouble since our last week. It is surprising how many alarm controls have been switched to “silent” when we arrive.

All of these maintenance tasks are things we do daily, so get in touch with us and let us help you to keep your system in top shape!

Nothing Cleans Like A Fuji Clean

Septic System Treatments are basically cleaning tanks onsite for a wastewater (septic).  They are used to purify the water no longer suitable for use – with minimal environmental issues – for the purpose of reuse or return into the water cycle.  So, of course it makes sense that designers and installers like us should be attentive to these treatments.  But, just as importantly, so should homeowners, engineers, environmentalists and fellow wastewater workers.  Why?  Wastewater is local.  As a local business and community members we care about the wellbeing of our community and so should you.

Simply the Best

You may or may not be familiar with secondary treatment systems which are currently referred to in British Columbia as Aerobic Treatment Systems or ATUs.  The problem with these choices is that they are often prone to problems such as odors and questionable performance.

Septic Expert trustfully relies on the world’s leading Japanese manufacturer of the domestic waterwaste system.  The extremely well engineered Fusion System in the Fuij Clean Company, of which we hold a franchise, sees approximately 40,000 new installs every year in Japan.  There are many reasons why it’s so popular and why we put our name behind it.  Here are just a few:
  • Compact Systems with Reliable High Performance
  • Proven Design
  • Easy Maintenance: easy and efficient to clean
  • Lower Operational Cost

We Sell to All the Rest
Septic Expert has the Fuji Clean Franchise both to use ourselves and for other Septic Installers.  So, if other companies need to consult on difficult jobs, we are the ones they come to.  You can save yourself a lot of hassle by bringing us on from the beginning especially if you have a complex system that needs the skill set of real experts.   if you have already started working another installer and find yourself needing a consult we are happy to work with you or your septic provider to find the best – and cleanest – possible system.
