Equipment
SepticExpert’s primary focus is Onsite Waste Disposal Systems, and therefore we have tailored our fleet to equipment which we feel is best suited for the task.
For trenching and excavating for tanks, we use a 2009 JCB midi. This versatile machine only weighs 10000 pounds, yet is capable of easily handling digging chores for most installations. The 1 yard front combination bucket makes quick work of transporting sand and drain rock, and the 12 foot digging reach of the excavator end is capable of an excavation for a 1600 gallon septic tank. The JCB’s light weight and compact size means that we can work much more easily than other contractors in small back yards and under trees, while having little impact on sensitive soils. We chose this machine over a small tracked excavator due to the advantages of having a loader bucket for transporting materials, loading trucks and cleanup.

This 2007 Ditch Witch SK650 has a quick attach front end which will accept many attachments, such as our custom made jetting flushing unit, which doubles as a water reservoir for percolation tests, and an eight foot excavator, which we use for test pit digging, trenching, and other excavating duties in areas inaccessible to even our small loader backhoe. This machine also does the bulk of the work on smaller sand mound systems, as it’s low ground pressure means it can travel on, shape and grade the sand mound without fear of compaction. The SK650’s 42 inch width means we can install replacement systems in small back yards, usually without damage to fences and landscaping.
While our excavating fleet is ideal for most installations, we also install systems for larger homes, and commercial buildings. Sand and drain rock is transported by subcontractors with these truck and transfer units, capable of delivering up to 38 tonne per trip. For these larger jobs we delegate the excavating work to one of several reliable contractors who we are comfortable working with. This 2006 Hitachi 160 excavator is commonly used.
